The refund policy for Ranthambore bookings is strict, especially for safaris. In general, once a safari is confirmed, it is non-refundable. However, specific policies depend heavily on the booking authority (e.g., government site, private tour operator, or hotel) and the timing of the cancellation request.
General Safari Booking Policy
For bookings made through various online agents and consistent with the forest department's rules, the following policies generally apply:
Confirmed Bookings: Confirmed Jeep and Canter safari payments are generally non-refundable under any circumstances.
Unconfirmed Bookings: If your booking is unsuccessful (e.g., due to technical errors or non-availability of seats), a full refund of the amount paid will be issued.
Government Authority: All reservations are provisional and subject to modification or cancellation by the Field Director, Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, without assigning reasons, and such decisions may not result in a refund.
Monsoon/Park Closure: If the park is closed due to heavy rain, some private operators may offer a partial refund (e.g., 75% for gypsy, 65% for canter), but if a permit was already issued, no refund may be available.
Tour Operators and Hotel Package Policies
If you book a package (safari, hotel, etc.) through a private tour operator, their specific cancellation terms will apply, which often use a tiered refund structure based on the number of days before arrival:
30 days or more before arrival: Typically, a higher percentage of the tour cost is refunded (e.g., 75% ).
Within 90 days of arrival: Many operators offer 0% refund for the safari portion of the booking.
No Show/Less than 48 hours notice: Generally results in no refund (0%).
Always check the specific terms and conditions on the website or with the agent you use at the time of booking, as policies can vary and are subject to change.
